Description:
In the heart of Playa del Carmen, this non-profit created a great community park for children and adults to enjoy and to learn in a practical and fun way how to actively participate in environmental conservation. This Environmental Education and Cultural Development Center offers a playground, a cafeteria, an area for workshop and events, walking paths and a permanent expo about the value of recycling.
Their ongoing need throughout the year is gardening, and weekly events also include community festivals. Some examples of the type of activities that could be planned are ongoing gardening and maintenance, painting, help with preparations for a special events (clean, decorate, put things together, logistics), coordinate a workshop. Handicraft artisans and teachings can be scheduled here as a great local venue for connecting with local artisans.
Suggested Plan:
30 min: Arrival and introduction. Receive instructions regarding the activities to perform and put teams together.
90 min: Perform volunteer activities
15 min: Break
45 min: Resume volunteer activities
15 min: Thank the volunteers for their support and farewell.
